This painting is especially close to my heart because it's an empowering image of two women who are intimate. "The Poet" refers to Sappho, a well known queer icon and woman-loving-woman from ancient Greece. LGBTQIA+ representation. What is more empowering than being your true self in world that often wants to hurt you?
